Sorry, No Pictures by Meggan Gould
Seldom have I taken in a book as enjoyable as Sorry, No Pictures.
I say “taken in” instead of “read” because interspersed with Meggan Gould’s stirring and inspiring prose—thoughtful, candid musings and meditations on art and life—are 65 photographs, static images so arresting and full of intrigue that they insist on the viewer’s emotional collaboration, spurring further musing and meditation. This is not a book one passively skims.
Sorry, No Pictures (which, to me, is akin to Annie Dillard’s The Writing Life) is a work of art to savor, return to, and give as a gift to fortunate friends and loved ones—especially any creatives in your life!
